Learn to identify wild spring herbs and flowers, spend some time in nature, go for a walk, be outdoors in warm company, meet some local people and bring all your knowledge, memories and curiosity. The session will include wild herb tea tasting.
On most Invisible Food walks, we focus on identification and discussion of uses of plants. We work on a more cognitive level, enabling you to see your natural environment in a different way, recognising potential food sources in the green spaces around you. In the meditation sessions, we contemplate and observe the plants in a more intuitive way.
In order to welcome some silence and stillness into each session, we will look in depth at one plant, its properties and uses, we will spend some time contemplating the plant and journaling or drawing it. No prior experience required, just a willingness to spend some moments in silence as part of an otherwise social experience.
Please book a place at invisiblefood@gmail.com or 07963 446 605. Places are limited. Please get in touch with your phone number so we can communicate with you in the event of rain on the day.
Ceri has just participated in a Co-creating with Nature workshop with artist and writer Glennie Kindred and Flower essence maker Sophie Knock at the Chalice Well Gardens at Glastonbury and will be passing on some of that experience during this session.
This month we are cooking our world food with wild food with a central and Eastern European theme. Menu will include some of the below.
May: Central and Eastern Europe
Please book a place at invisiblefood@gmail.com or 07963 446 605 and get in touch if you want to be involved in planning this event.
Participate more? We need someone to read some Eastern European stories from this amazing book http://books.google.co.uk/books/about/Hidden_Tales_From_Eastern_Europe.html?id=aIiTYR8iLEIC. No experience necessary, just the confidence to read to a bunch of friendly people.
These events are free.
Donations welcome or buy a poster and tea towel to support the project.
These two events are part of a wider series of workshops and film showings organised by the network Ayanna.
We are very proud to participate in this series of workshops to nourish and inspire people involved in community work and social change.
If you enjoy getting messy with paint when banner making at the workshop in January, there's an art workshop with Anna on Tuesday 22 May.
If you like the singing, there's singing with Shilpa on Thursday 24 May and again on Tuesday 12 June.
There's a Wild food workshops with Ceri on 20 and 26 May and an exciting film and discussion night on 9 June with Marvi too.
This year we are combining the traditional annual fair with a Diamond Jubilee celebration, and a Big Lunch.
To mark the Diamond Jubilee, there will be a 1950s style big band playing on the bandstand during lunch, which will take place on long tables near the café (complete with bunting!). There will be a jazz band and dancing from 3pm, as well as a small fairground running all afternoon and a range of children's entertainment and arts and crafts.
They are looking for people who would like to have stalls at the event and are particularly looking for stalls which sell arts and crafts, food and handmade goods and for stalls run by local community organisations. The best thing is to have as many different types of stalls as possible, you could use your imagination in providing some participation games or quizzes, and decorating your stall as cheerfully as you please!
