Aids and adaptations

Aids and adaptations are not a service provided by URH. However this service standard sets out the level of service you can expect from URH, so you know what to expect.

  • We will publicise details of the adaptations service in our reception area
  • We will provide you with contact details of the surveyor who is dealing with your case, and the contractor who will be carrying out the works
  • We will ensure our contractors show you official identification and are polite and helpful
  • We will protect your home and clean up at the end of every working day during the work
  • We will ensure that you have access to basic facilities while we carry out the work
  • Your adaptations works within five weeks from receipt of a recommendation from the occupational therapist, or from date planning permission is granted (if required)
  • We will let you know if we are unable to carry out the adaptation you have requested and explain the reasons why
  • We will post inspect all adaptations to ensure that the work has been done properly
  • We will ask your opinion of the adaptations service provided by the council and use the information you give us to assist in improving how things are done

To help us deliver a great service, you can help us by:

  • Letting us know as soon as possible if you have any special requirements that need to be taken into consideration.
  • Provide us with feedback, whether positive or negative to help us inform the service provided by the council.
